Citizens of the U.S., UK, Australia, and most European countries can enter Southern African countries like South Africa, Namibia, and Botswana without a visa for short stays (30 or 90 days). We’ll help guide you through the visa process for other countries as needed so don’t let this trouble you.
Do you plan trips for the disabled or elderly?
Yes, we strive to make travel accessible for everyone. We can tailor itineraries for travellers with mobility challenges or elderly guests, including selecting accommodations and experiences that suit specific needs. Let us know how we can best assist you.
Does Sereni Travel book my flights?
While we don't book flights directly, we can provide recommendations and connect you with trusted flight providers. We can also advise on the best times to book for your journey to ensure the most convenient and cost-effective travel options.
Do I need travel insurance for the trip?
Yes, we strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical expenses, trip cancellations, and lost luggage. It’s always a good idea to be prepared for unexpected events, ensuring peace of mind while you travel.
Can you organize a Guide for our Travels?
Yes, we can offer expert local guides who will accompany you throughout your journey, sharing insider knowledge and ensuring you have a seamless experience. Whether it’s a private guide or group tour, we’ll match you with the perfect person for your needs.
If I want to travel to other parts of Africa can you help me with those plans?
Absolutely! We specialize in Southern Africa, but we can help plan trips to other parts of the continent too. Whether it’s East Africa, West Africa, or beyond, we’ll tailor your itinerary and recommend the best destinations and experiences for your adventure. We have friends in high high places who can assist us in planning the perfect stop over in east, west and northern Africa.
How does the Foundation link to Sereni Travel Studio?
Sereni Travel Studio partners with a educational foundations to give back to local communities in Africa. Through your travels, you can directly sponsor a child or teacher, creating a meaningful connection between your journey and the people who benefit from it.(I will rewrite this later)
What Information do you require at the time of booking?
We’ll need your full name, passport details, travel dates, and any special preferences (dietary, accessibility, etc.). We also ask about your travel style, must-see destinations, and interests so we can design a perfect itinerary for you. The more information we have the better we can make sure we have all the bases covered to provide you with the absolute best trip possible.
How do deposits &payments work & which payment methods to you accept?
A deposit is required to secure your booking. Full payment is due 10 weeks before departure. We accept credit cards, bank transfers, and PayPal. Our pricing is transparent, and we’ll provide a breakdown of all costs so you know exactly where your money goes.
How do you contribute to sustainability?
We prioritize eco-friendly, sustainable travel practices, from supporting conservation efforts to working with responsible local businesses. By promoting low-impact accommodations and experiences that benefit the environment, Sereni Travel ensures your adventure also helps protect Southern Africa’s natural beauty. This is of course over and above our contribution to educating selected children in Southern Africa.
How the booking process works?
Just like our travel – we have planned this process specially for you! To start designing go to our “Design your Adventure” page on our website which will guide you through the basics we will need to start putting together your dream trip to Africa. You can also start by sending us a message or giving us a call if you are more comfortable with that-tell us everything! Your dream destinations, your passions, your must-haves, and anything else that sparks excitement. The more details, the better!
Vaccinations needed in Southern Africa?
Vaccinations such as Hepatitis A, Typhoid, and Yellow Fever are recommended for travel to Southern Africa, depending on your country of origin and itinerary. Consult your healthcare provider or travel clinic for personalized advice well before your trip.
When is it too late to change the dates of my trip?
We recommend finalizing your travel dates at least 10 weeks before departure to avoid any penalties. While changes can be made later, it may involve extra charges depending on availability and the time frame.
What will I need to pack for my travels?
Pack light, comfortable clothing for varying temperatures, a good pair of walking shoes, sunscreen, a hat, and a camera for all those epic moments! Don’t forget your passport, travel insurance, and any necessary medications. We’ll send you a detailed packing list before departure.
When to travel to Southern Africa?
The beauty of Southern Africa is it is a great region to travel in all year round. The only constraints are your interests and making sure we get you down to Africa during the best time to do the thing you want to do. For Safari the best time to visit Southern Africa is during the dry season (May to October), ideal for safari and outdoor activities. However, the region offers year-round beauty as we said, with lush landscapes and fewer tourists during the wet season (November to April).
How does Tipping work in Southern Africa?
Tipping is appreciated but not mandatory in Southern Africa. For guides, drivers, and hotel staff, a tip of 10-15% is customary if you're happy with the service. Always check if service charges are already included to avoid over-tipping.
What if I miss a flight?
If you miss your flight, contact us or your airline immediately. We’ll assist you in rebooking your flight and adjusting your itinerary, though any additional costs incurred will be your responsibility. Always aim to arrive early at the airport to avoid delays.
What currencies do I need to travel with?
Southern Africa’s main currencies are the South African Rand (ZAR), Botswana Pula (BWP), Namibian Dollar (NAD), and Mozambican Metical (MZN). Zimbabwe and Botswana often deal in USD but depending on where we plan your adventure we will suggest the best way to deal with currency. We recommend carrying local currency/USD for small purchases and tips, though credit cards are widely accepted in major cities and tourist areas.
Can I make changes to my holiday after I have booked?
We understand plans change! You can make adjustments to your itinerary, but changes may incur extra costs. The earlier you notify us, the more flexibility we can offer, especially for things like accommodations and excursions. The nitty gritty of this can be found in our Terms & Conditions document which is available on the website or can be sent to you via your favourite Sereni curator.
When do I get my tickets?
You’ll receive your tickets after your full payment has been processed, usually 4 weeks before departure. We’ll send you all the details, including local flight confirmations, accommodation bookings, and any other relevant documents to make sure we have covered all our bases.
